Victorinox Watches – Not Just Your Granddad’s Watch
In 1884, Karl Elsner opened a cutlery shop in the town of Ibach-Schwyz, Switzerland, backed by his mother Victoria. From that moment, he began a long standing tradition of excellence that lasts to this day. By 1900, his knives had made their way into the Swiss army, becoming, as time went on, the Swiss Officer’s or the Sport Knife. By 1945, the business had expanded considerably, expanding across ocean and land. It was that same year that they came out with the very first Swiss army knife, an international hit. From there, the sky was the limit, and in 1989, Victorinox Watches took flight.
Victorinox Watches are made with the same precision and care that has characterized Victorinox knives since their inception. Durable and exact, they can be counted on from Swiss Alps, to, as one owner found out, even at the bottom of the sea. On a diving expedition in Croatia, Dr. Felicitations Millet’s Victorinox watch slipped off, settling at the bottom of the ocean. Two months later, a local fisherman pulled it out of the waves. To his surprise, not only was it in perfect condition, but despite its emersion in the salt water, it was still running. He returned the watch to the French doctor, who was delighted to have his watch back.
This Anecdote is just one of hundreds that support Victorinox Watches claim to excellence. Fashionable on both men and women, and tough enough to withstand everything from the heights of the Alps, to the depths of the ocean, Victorinox is just as suitable in a dinner party as it is in the wilderness.
