A Memory to Remember
The moment that your child is born, is a memory that will last a lifetime, so why not commemorate that moment with something almost as beautiful as the love you have for your child. Bracelets, anklets, and even rings can be sized for the precious addition to your family, whether a beautiful ring set with their birthstone, or a simple band of gold or silver matched with one that you can wear with pride as a physical symbol of your connection.
Throughout history, jewelry has been available for children since their birth. In ancient Egypt, a baby’s jewelry might be studded with precious stones such as Turquoise, Feldspar and Lapis Lazuli, all meant to bring good luck, as well as Amethyst, a gem thought to bring happiness to the wearer. Not only was jewelry meant to be ornamental, but the precious metals, scarabs, and gems were thought to protect the wearer from the evil eye, as well as other curses. In Europe, bracelets, necklaces, and other pieces of baby jewelry were made, both as a symbol of status, and, as in other cultures, to promote good luck, and protect the child from evil spirits.
With such a rich history behind baby jewelry, what may seem, at first, to be a foreign, and perhaps slightly silly concept, becomes more plausible. By extension, the practice of having a baby or young child in an outfit that is similar, if not the same to their parent’s outfit has become common practice. So, why not go a step further, and give your child a gift, that though it may not fit in the same way, will grow with them, a tangible piece of your love for them, it’s twin your own to keep, both a reminder of the love that you have for your child.
